L- and T- Wall Elements of the former border
The "Grenzmauer 75" (border wall) consisting of individual segments was used as a barrier construction.
The so-called UL 12.41 elements measured 3.60 x 1.20 x 0.15 m (height x width x depth) and sat on a 2.10 m deep base.
They represented the fourth generation of Berlin Wall construction, recognizable by their typical side grooves and metal border on top. These elements were removed from the inner city borders such as at Potsdamer Platz in 1990.
The L-shaped elements weigh around 2,750.00 kg, the T-shaped ones around 3,300.00 kg. They were produces by the GDR owned "VEB Baustoffkombinat Neubrandenburg" in Malchin which also produced separating segments for the agricultural industry.
The elements served as part of the so-called "anti-fascist protection barrier".
