Flying Wall

The opening of the PANORAMAPUNKT on 15.07.2010 was a spectacular event. I took place on the top floor of the Kollhoff Building on Potsdamer Platz. It was followed by around 1,000 spectators as well as a huge media presence who were watching a helicopter loaded with a Berlin Wall segment weighing 750 kg taking off in the air. The segment belonging to VisibleWall was later placed on the 24th floor of the Kollhoff Building at a height of 90 metros. It now completes the new exhibition BERLINER BLICKE (views of Berlin) that commemorates the history of the Postdamer Platz in Berlin. 

The former priest, civil rights activist and candidate for Federal President, Joachim Gauck, became the mentor of the VisibleWall Wall element which he signed. In a very personal speech he revealed his historical view of the Berlin Wall as a lasting symbol for peace. One of the Wall miniatures signed by him has also become part of the exhibition BERLINER BLICKE.
