Cinema for Peace

Since the year 2002 the world-wide initiative CINEMA FOR PEACE has been offering a platform for responsible pioneers in the movie world with its Gala that takes place in February every year in Berlin. It supplies the opportunity to celebrate their engagement for peace, humanity and tolerance and to meet today´s global challenges with with ideas, strength and inspiration. Filmmakers from all over the world meet up with international celebrities and decision makers from the media world and the political, cultural and economic life. The much-desired CINEMA FOR PEACE Awards are being awarded during these galas in various categories.

Today the CINEMA FOR PEACE galas are generating over one billion media contact every year. This makes them the most publicity-effective film event worldwide - and a perfect stage for all celebrities and partners involved. In 2010 important such as Michail Gorbatschow, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Christopher Lee, Liam Neeson and Catherine Deneuve met at the CINEMA FOR PEACE Gala. The gala also proves sot be a very lucrative fundraising instrument: within the last 9 years the galas raised over 3 million Euros for charity projects, amongst them various United Nations projects (such as UNICEF, UNIFEM) as wells the renowned institutions such as the Leonardo DiCaprioFund or the Gorbachev Foundation.

February 15th 2010 - CINEMA FOR PEACE GALA 2010
An original VisibleWall Wall element was auctioned during the Cinema for Peace Awards 2010 to fund Cinema for Peace aid projects. The Wall Original WIR SIND EIN VOLK (We are the people) was designed exclusively by the Leipzig-based artist Alban Seyboth. Amongst the guests were Peace Nobel Price winner Michael Gorbatschow, Lenoardo DiCaprio, Catherine Deneuve, Sir Bob Geldof and many others. 40,000 Euros that went towards future Cinema for Peace documentary film projects were raised by the auction of the Wall element which remains in a public space in Berlin. 

November 8th 2009 - Honorary Award for Michail Gorbatschow
Two L-shaped VisibleWall Wall elements were auctioned during the Cinema for Peace Honorary Award for the Peace Nobel Price Laureate at the Hotel Adlon in Berlin. The 80,000 Euros raised went the Raissa Gorbatschowa-Foundation to support the Children´s Lukemia Hospital in St. Petersburg. The Wall element ONE WORLD designed by Kiddy Citny. The buyer, MTV Networks International, will present it to the public as a peace document.
